Olga Gorelik | Pianist

Olga Gorelik was born in Minsk, Belarus and upon immigrating to the United States attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. She completed her formal studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) with Paul Schenly, Margarita Shevchenko and Sergei Babayan (BM, MM, and Artist Diploma). While living in Cleveland, Ms.Gorelik performed Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto with the CIM orchestra, appeared at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and the WCLV 104.9 Cleveland Classical Radio. This season she has joined the Arizona Masterworks chorale as their collaborative pianist. Ms. Gorelik maintains an active career as a solo and chamber musician, while serving as a devoted mentor to her students.

Chamber music has been a significant part of Ms.Gorelik’s education and performance career. Most recently, she joined the artists in residence roster at the Trinity Cathedral in downtown Phoenix as a member of the Urban Nocturnes chamber ensemble. In 2007, she took a Silver medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition as well as the Alice Coleman/Coleman Barstow Prize at the Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition with the Klimt Trio. Since graduating cum laude from CIM, her career highlights include a series of collaborative recitals throughout the US and the UK, including appearances at the Kerr Cultural Center, Downtown Chamber Series, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, University of St. Andrew’s in Scotland, and St. James Piccadilly in London.

As an educator Ms.Gorelik is an active member of the Phoenix Music Teacher’s Association (PMTA) and has twice served on the board. She has established a close working relationship with the young artists in Phoenix and has been frequently invited as a collaborative pianist for state and national competitions – a role she truly cherishes. In the summer of 2015 she was on the piano and the chamber music faculty at the Luzerne Music Center in upstate NY. Ms. Gorelik, having relocated to Phoenix in 2015, continues her mission to contribute to the culture of her new home as a performer, an educator, and an advocate for the tradition of the art. Olga and her husband Owen reside in Central Phoenix with their two young daughters Veronica and Saffron and rescue cats Pistol and Tybalt.
