Choral Evensong
Cathedral Choir

Sunday, Mar 7, 4 PM

This service is sponsored
by Robert Dixon

In recognition of Mothering Sunday, the Cathedral Choir will offer the only Choral Evensong of the season on Sunday, March 7 at 4:00 PM. Observed since the Middle Ages, Mothering Sunday is traditionally the time when people return to their nearest cathedral, the mother church of their diocese. For this service, the Cathedral Choir will sing the first performance of Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in G Minor by Michael McCabe, especially commissioned for this event (the composer will be in attendance). Other music includes the Preces and Responses of William Byrd and the anthem Lord, I Call Upon Thee by Edward Bairstow.
